一個人可能已經理解某個模式。
也可能已經決定不再重複。
但當相似的情境、關係、情緒或壓力再次出現時,原本的反應仍可能比新的選擇更早發生。
在 OROCOR Axis 中,這種熟悉模式重新取得影響力的傾向,被稱為:

Traction 不是命運,也不是人格缺陷。
它不是一股存在於神經系統中的神秘力量。

熟悉的模式通常比較容易被辨識與執行。

但同樣的機制也可能讓某些已不再合適的反應繼續出現。

Traction is not destiny or a character defect.
It is not a mysterious force stored inside the nervous system.

The tendency of established emotional, attentional, bodily, and behavioral patterns to become rapid, familiar, and readily available under related cues, contexts, or regulatory load.
Traction
Traction ordinarily describes the grip produced when a surface makes contact with the ground.
OROCOR Axis uses the term to describe how established patterns can regain a grip on attention, bodily preparation, and action under familiar conditions.
This does not mean that choice disappears.
It means that some responses may have become more readily available through previous use.

require little new learning

Familiarity

The same process can also allow responses that are no longer appropriate to continue.
Familiarity means that a pattern:

Familiarity is not equivalent to safety.
A familiar state may be comfortable, painful, limiting, or conflicted.
The concept of familiar pain should not be treated as a universal rule that the nervous system considers pain safer than the unknown.

Context
Patterns do not exist only inside an individual.

The Boundary of Survival Memory
The previous definition described Survival Memory as a threat–safety configuration stored in the body and nervous system.
This may be interpreted as trauma being stored in bodily tissue as a fixed object.
Memory involves distributed neural, physiological, cognitive, and contextual processes.
Bodily responses may participate when a memory is retrieved, but this does not mean that a complete survival memory is stored inside muscles, organs, or specific tissue.
If the term Survival Memory is used within OROCOR Axis, it refers only to:
Previous learning associated with high demand, threat, or necessary response becoming influential again under related conditions.
It is not an entity that OROCOR Axis can diagnose or remove.
Neural Loyalty Is Not a Neuroscientific Mechanism

The nervous system is not loyal to the past and does not intentionally preserve an old identity.

Body Realm describes the range of bodily information that can become perceptible and supportable.
During Traction, a person may notice:
altered breathing
muscles preparing before deliberate action
an impulse to approach or withdraw
pressure in the chest or abdomen
acceleration or slowing of movement
narrowing attention
a familiar emotion appearing rapidly
These bodily signals may provide clues.
They do not independently prove the origin of a pattern or dictate what choice should follow.
Body Realm does not store Traction.
It allows some bodily changes already occurring to become perceptible.
The Role of Insight
The previous formulation created an opposition between insight and nervous-system change:
Insight occurs in the mind; traction is stored in the nervous system.
This is too simple.
Understanding may change:
recognition of context
how a pattern is named
direction of attention
interpretation of bodily signals

whether a pause appears before action

Insight is therefore not ineffective.

The Role of Will
Traction does not mean that conscious intention is absent.

This is not necessarily weakness of will.

the previous pattern remains highly accessible
the new choice has not been sufficiently practiced

time and support are insufficient

OROCOR Axis does not use Traction to remove personal agency.
It uses the concept to explain why one decision does not always make a new response permanently available.
Repetition Is Not Destiny
The reappearance of a pattern does not mean that change has failed.
Learning is not always a one-time replacement.
A new response may first become available under limited conditions and only later across a wider range of contexts.
During this process, an established pattern and a new choice may coexist.
A person may:
recognize the pattern earlier
remain in it for less time
respond with a different degree of intensity
recover more quickly afterward
choose differently in some contexts
repeat the pattern again under high load
Change cannot be measured only by whether a pattern ever reappears.
Reduced Traction may first mean:
Where there was once only one available direction, a second option can now be recognized.
Conditions That May Reduce the Influence of Traction
OROCOR Axis does not guarantee that Traction dissolves.
A more accurate formulation is that some conditions may reduce the automatic continuation of an established pattern.

Recognition
Identifying changes in context, attention, body, and expectation before a pattern fully organizes action.
Interruption
Creating a pause or different condition between a familiar cue and its established response.
Alternative Response
Making a new option practically executable rather than only intellectually understood.
Repetition
Using a new response repeatedly in relevant conditions so that it becomes increasingly accessible.
Context Variation
Practicing new responses across more than one environment so that they do not depend entirely on a single supportive context.
Recovery
Fatigue and continuing demand may make alternatives less accessible. Recovery does not erase a pattern but may increase available regulatory resources.
External Change
If relationships, institutions, work, or living conditions continue to reinforce the previous pattern, individual self-regulation alone may be insufficient.
Professional Support
Patterns involving trauma, addiction, compulsion, violence, self-harm, or significant functional impairment require appropriate psychological, medical, or social support.
How OROCOR Axis Approaches Traction
OROCOR Axis does not claim to remove trauma memory, reprogram the nervous system, or dissolve all repeating patterns.
It uses environment, sequence, and closed loops to establish conditions different from ordinary high-load contexts.
These conditions may include:
reduced signal density
greater environmental continuity
more recognizable rhythm
greater accessibility of bodily information
recovery intervals after response
reduced demand for immediate reaction
time for state changes to be integrated
repetition of new perceptual and behavioral relationships
OROCOR Axis does not decide which life pattern a Votary should change.
It does not attribute every difficulty to the nervous system.
It establishes a condition in which:
The response that once occurred automatically is no longer the only direction available in the present.
Traction and Closed-Loop Stabilization
One different experience does not necessarily alter an established pattern.
If a new state appears only temporarily within one environment, the previous pattern may regain influence after return to its original context.
Closed-Loop Stabilization concerns whether:
different conditions are established
the system produces a new response
the response is recognized and carried
subsequent conditions connect with the preceding stage
the new relationship receives repetition
retention is observed after return to life
A closed loop does not guarantee that Traction disappears.

Repeating behavior may involve psychological, social, neural, medical, and environmental factors.
